Eligible Groups and Start Dates

• From 1 October 2026:

  • Adults aged 65 years and over (turning 65 by 31 March 2027)

  • Individuals aged 18 to 64 years in clinical risk groups

  • Residents in long-stay care homes

  • Carers in receipt of Carer's Allowance or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person

  • Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals

  • Frontline health and social care workers

  • Persons experiencing homelessness and rough sleepers aged 16 and over

Qualifying Long-Term Health Conditions

• Respiratory conditions: Severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or bronchitis

• Heart conditions: Coronary heart disease or heart failure

• Kidney and liver disease: Chronic kidney disease or chronic liver disease like cirrhosis

• Neurological conditions: Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), or cerebral palsy

• Diabetes: Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes requiring medication

• Immune system issues: Weakened immune system due to conditions like HIV or treatments like chemotherapy

• Spleen problems: Asplenia or dysfunction of the spleen [1]
